At UCI, I have served as the Student Government External VP, where I worked to ensure that young people were included in all spaces where decisions are being made. Guiliana Dakdouk is a first generation Lebanese and Venezuelan American whose heart lives in the great city of Los Angeles. Growing up in LA, Guiliana saw the efforts of her parents tirelessly working to make ends meet while connecting people from all paths thru food, music and good energy. This experience cultivated a passion for helping others by listening to individuals needs and finding creative solutions.
She began her career in the retail food industry and shifted into management with the intent of being an advocate for employees in a space that is less than inviting to women and BIPOC communities. Working full time while going to school, Guiliana became the first in her family to graduate from college receiving her BA in Communication Studies focusing on Intercultural and Interpersonal Comms. After graduating with her MPA in Organizational Leadership from CSUN, Guiliana became a board member in her community’s neighborhood council until 2023.
She currently is a Self-Identifying Female at Large Board Member of LACYD, the Vice Chair of the Women’s Committee for LACYD and a board member of the DEI Steering Committee at Soho House. Guiliana is hopeful that as more young people recognize the power of community engagement, change will occur.
Veronica Boulos
Legislative Director
My name is Veronica Boulos and I’m a fourth year Political Science major at Sacramento State. I’m a first generation student and an Egyptian Immigrant. I wasn’t involved in advocacy until I began college and decided that I wanted to do something meaningful and impactful. I switched my major from psychology to political science and tried to get involved on campus. Since my first year and a half at Sac State was fully online, it made it harder to find the opportunities for involvement, but I stumbled across our Associated Students Incorporated student government. I joined many committees such as Student Academic Senate and Lobby Corps to tackle student and higher education issues. This showed me that just talking about the issues was not enough. I wanted to take action and have a seat at the table so I ran for the Director of Social Sciences and Interdisciplinary Studies position of the ASI Board of Directors.
This role strengthened my involvement in our College Democrats chapter where I helped champion women’s rights. I authored a resolution in support of California Proposition 1 and spoke at a rally organized by our College Democrats at Sac State. I then joined the California College Democrats and founded/chaired the CCD Women’s Caucus. Authoring legislation in bills for higher education such as SB 808, AB 266, AB 888, SB 260, and many more through my ASI Board position sparked my interest in legislative advocacy. As a woman of color, women’s rights has always been a priority of mine so I look forward to continuing my advocacy through my role as the CYD Legislative Director.
